Epics: Operating-system-independent Device/driver Support*
Originally EPICS input/output controllers (IOCs) were only supported on VME-based systems running the vxWorks operating system. Now IOCs are supported on many systems: vxWorks, RTEMS, Solaris, HPUX, Linux, WIN32, and Darwin. A challenge is to provide operatingsystem-independent device and driver support. This paper presents some techniques for providing such support.
متن کاملImplementation of the Epics Device Support for Network-based Controllers
In the control system of the JAERI-KEK joint project (High Intensity Proton Accelerator Facility), it is planned to employ network-based controllers such as PLC’s and measurement stations instead of using other field control networks, since the network hardware and software can be standardized and they have been successfully utilized in other accelerator control systems in KEK. EPICS software s...
متن کاملEPICS Record Processing and Device Support Usage in Raspberry Pi
An open source software tool kit is EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) developed and maintained by Argonne National laboratory, US and is in use worldwide. It maintains the server client distributed control system. Communication between server and client are done through a named piece of data called Process Variable (PV). There may be many client and many servers. [1]. t...
متن کاملMobility Support for the Core-manager Based Scalable Multicast Routing
The Core-Manager based Multicast Routing (CMMR) architecture developed by the authors is a scalable multicast routing scheme in which the Core-Manager (CM) keeps tracking cores of each multicast delivery tree in order to maintain a brief image of the tree. Consequently, new members will almost always be directed to a nearby core to join the group tree so that tree cost is well conjined [1]. Fur...
متن کاملTuap066 Implementation of the Epics Device Support for Network-based Controllers
Network-based controllers such as PLC’s and measurement stations will be used in the control system of the JAERIKEK joint project (High Intensity Proton Accelerator Facility). The ability for the network hardware and software to be standardized has led to this decision. EPICS software support for those controllers has been designed with special attention paid to robustness. This software has be...
